Innovative solutions for more effective diagnostic

Coris BioConcept was founded in October 1996 by two biologists, of which Thierry LECLIPTEUX (CEO & Scientific Director), and two other investors.

Their aim was to provide a global service in the diagnostic field: they opted for immunochromatography.

The company is situated on the Science Park CREALYS site in Gembloux. The main activity of Coris BioConcept is the development, production and marketing of diagnostic kits for the detection of human enteric and respiratory pathogens.

Tests are performed on coated nitrocellulose strips and results are observed with colloidal gold particles or latex microspheres.

Once the stick is dipped into diluted sample, liquid samples and conjugate(s) migrate by capillary movement. At the end of the migration process, one or two coloured lines appear indicating either a negative or a positive result respectively.

These tests are specific, sensitive, rapid, convenient, do not require any sophisticated extra material for interpreting the results, are more sensitive than classical latex tests, and give unequivocal diagnosis within 5 to 15 minutes.

20 persons presently work in the company. Coris BioConcept is growing fast: in 1996, the turnover was 46.000€; in 1999, 136.500€, to reach 1.000.000€ in 20005 and to border the 1.500.000€ in 2007. Coris BioConcept is present in more than 70 countries in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and Oceania. We are leader on the Belgian market (80%), in Ireland, United Kingdom, and Norway.

Our production is under supervision of a Quality Assurance Responsible. We are also engaged in a Total Quality Assurance program. We produce under Standard Operating Procedures and we are ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 certified by SGS.

All our products have received the CE marking for In Vitro Diagnostics.
